I had just gotten back home from helping my girlfriend move to California. I doomscroll my email inbox and something catches my eye. It's an invite to a Stanford Alumni YC networking event in SF, and both Garry Tan and Eddie Kim are going to be there. Partially because I wanted to see my girlfriend again and partially because I wanted to interview both Garry and Eddie, I decided to fly down and attend the event. In retrospect, that was a very smart move. Because I was there right in front of them physically, I could make sure that my request to interview them reached them and wasn't lost in the nebula of their email inbox. Furthermore, I could get them to clearly acknowledge I emailed them by sending them a scheduling email right in front of them. This experience further convinced me that networking in person is much more effective than online. Anyways, the article with Garry is a banger and I'll link it below.
